Ways to Cool Off on a Hot Summer Day

With both the heat and humidity of a Midwest Summer Day it’s important to have a list of ways to cool off on a hot Summer Day. Since we have four children and two dogs we like to be sure and have a variety of ideas for everyone to enjoy.

Ways to Cool Off on a Hot Summer Day

Cool Off in the Shade

Staying in the shade is a great way to stay cool and avoid a sunburn during hot Summer days. You can relax in a hammock or a tent without the rainfly or put up a base camp for your little adventurers.

Backyard Safari Base Camp

We were sent a Backyard Safari Basecamp from Alex toys for Lil’ Red and Big Red to enjoy. They loved having a simple tent that could be set up and was just their size!

Cool Off by Staying Inside

Some days the heat and humidity are just too much for us to enjoy being outside. On hot Summer days like this we stay inside and read a good book, watch a favorite childhood movie or play a board game.

Cool Off with Water Play

>My kids just love a good water fight whether is be with water balloons, sprinkler or squirt guns. I love having a good set of squirt guns on hand that can be easily thrown in a bag to take to the park or grandma’s house.

3 boys with BuzzBee waterblasters

All four of my children love the water guns from BuzzBee which were sent to us for review!

Eat a Cool Treat

Be sure to stock your freezer with ingredients for smoothies and ready made popsicles or make your own! Grab your personal blender and some frozen fruit and you almost have a treat ready to enjoy on a hot Summer day.

I would love having a the Backyard Safari Basecamp for Charlie and I to sit under and read a book in. Or we could use it at our Summer Camp out and Back to School Party. As for water games we will be playing those as well so I do need to stock up on water guns so I will check out Alex Toys this week.

I love playing with our water guns and super soaker”s out in the yard with my grandson. He laughs when he gets us and gets us good.

These are all wonderful ideas to try with my children. Summer is supposed to be over, but it’s hot as can be right now!

Believe me…living in Texas…this is a super reality for us! We do all 3 of the above and admittedly use our share of air conditioning as well!

my favorite way to stay cool in the sumemr is to stay in the shade, natural or artificial from an umbrella. It’s the only way I can keep from getting sunburned!

We put the girl’s pool under the shade and they played there all day. It is hard to deal with this Texas heat!

Great list o f tips. It’s so important to encourage kids to cool off as sometimes they just go go go and get overheated before you know it. A water balloon fight is such a fun way to cool off. We always have Popsicles in the freezer for hot summer days to help the kids cool off.
