We are back again sharing the second part of The Harvard Classics in audiobook format. I will keep this post formatted in a similar manner to The Harvard Classics Audiobook Edition Part 1. This is a great list of classic literature compiled by the President of Harvard back in 1909 originally dubbed “The 5 Foot Shelf”.
Disclaimer: I have not personally listened to or read through all of these so please us this list of audiobooks at your own discretion.
If your high school student is working on their Language Arts credits then these posts should be of great help. I have included the time each audiobook is in order for a student to add up the time for their transcript. Homeschoolers can use Carnegie units to assign credits for high school credits. It’s suggested that 120 hours is assigned one credit or 60 hours a half credit but double check your state’s or country’s requirements. Interesting in 1906 fourteen units were considered the minimum amount for high school now many schools require 20+!
Adults could also use these posts if you are pursuing college credit or preparing to show lifelong learning for portfolio credits or possibly CLEP test in American Literature. Some of the items listed in the Harvard Classics were unable to be found in audiobook format but I left those titles listed in case they become available at a later time or if you want to read them. I have used a variety of sources to find this list including Wikipedia and Archive. I have used Librivox as my source for audiobooks which is why I wrote a post entitled Homeschooling using Librivox!
