Homeschooling using Librivox

March 17, 2019 By Thaleia Leave a Comment

I’m not quite sure how long ago I found out about Librivox but I love free resources and audiobooks could be expensive if you had to buy them. I enjoy homeschooling using Librivox and using Librivox for personal growth. There’s two different ways that I use Librivox so I will share those with you first.

LibriVox website and App

Homeschooling using Librivox! Easier then you think! #audiobooks #education #freeapp #charlottemasoneducation #ENWC

1. Download audiobooks for old cellphone or iPod via the Librivox website. Yes, we still own old tech that doesn’t have WiFi or use apps and read more about this on our post –Digital Devices for Homeschool. Librivox online works very well with these types of devices. You go to Librivox via PC and find a couple classic Literature titles. Then you can download them chapter by chapter or zip file or via iTunes!

2. Use the free Librivox app or the paid ad-free version to listen to audiobooks on the go! No waiting for your turn like Overdrive. If you download the audiobooks to your device then you won’t use up your data when off WiFi.

January Homeschool Mamas Book Club: The Unhurried Homeschooler #hsmamasbookclub

December 27, 2018 By Thaleia Leave a Comment

Welcome to the first month of Homeschool Mama’s Book Club! This month we will be reading The Unhurried Homeschooler by Durenda Wilson. I must have been living under a rock or something because I had not heard about this wonderful book until some homeschool mama friends suggested it as a book title choice! I am so very glad that it was voted as the top pick for our inaugural homeschool mamas book club.

Meet Durenda Wilson author of The Unhurried Homeschooler

Durenda Wilson

Durenda has been homeschooling for over 23 years and is a mom of eight (born 1991-2004).  She has graduated 5 so far with two still at home. She’s been married to Darryl for 29 years and they have 6 grandkids.  Durenda is convinced that home educating is an incredible blessing, but only if we don’t let it hold us hostage to unnecessary expectations and notions of what it “should” look like. The heart of her message is to encourage families to think outside the box and take time to enjoy this amazing journey.  She firmly believes that children are naturally curious and if parents keep things simple and unhurried, their kids will become lifelong learners.

Durenda has written The Unhurried Homeschooler-a simple, mercifully short book on homeschooling and Unhurried Grace for a Mom’s Heart-31 days in God’s Word.  She is the owner/host on her podcast Durenda Wilson and blog, Durenda Wilson.com

These are the same graphics that I will share on the Homeschool Beginners Instagram and in the Homeschool Beginners Facebook Group. Please feel free to join me in either location for book discussions! Make sure you grab your copy of the book and have your notebook or journal ready as we embark on this new journey in 2019!

Potty Training Tips and Tricks

June 24, 2017 By Thaleia 12 Comments

It’s been a few years since we were in the full-time potty training mode but this week Lil’ Red has been showing some more definite signs of desiring to potty train! He is insisting on wearing training underwear but is still having daily accidents! He also wants to learn to wipe with toilet paper which can be a tedious task even for a veteran mom such as myself.

potty training tips and tricks

Looking for some potty training tips and tricks? I’ve consulted the “experts” (other parents who have multiple children) and have been successful at potty training! Some of these tips might be so simple that you never thought about them while other’s might be so crazy it’s worth a try!

Great Potty Training tips! Remember the toilet paper! #ScottRapidDissolve @ScottProducts #ad
