Simple Ways to Relax and Recharge

December 12, 2015 By Thaleia 31 Comments

Shop now at Columbia.com!

I was provided an Aroma Sense Luxury Shower Head with Vitamin C for review and giveaway. I was not compensated in any way for this post. All opinions are my own. I am not a medical doctor or herbalist so please consult your own when deciding to use essential oils or a diffuser.

Are you looking for a good way to relax and recharge after all the holiday preparation craziness? How about winding down after a long week at work or at home with the kids? I homeschool  four children AND work at home in a small house so I know how stressed a mom can get. Sometimes I can’t even take a quick shower without drama!

If your toddler screams at the top of his lungs for no reason or your preteens start to argue and fight over who’s turn it is to play video games THEN you need to give one of these 5 Ways to Relax and Recharge a try.

Simple Ways to Relax and Recharge

Life got you STRESSED? Give one of these 5 Ways to Relax and Recharge a try!

Click To Tweet

Sip Warm Tea

Yes, something as simple as brewing a cup of your favorite herbal tea can make a difference. I use our Keurig Brewing System to heat water for tea even if I am using a regular tea bag! I would recommend a nice Chamomile or calming tea. You should try a variety pack if you are unsure of what flavor you might like. I actually own so many tea bags I have to house them in a drawer in my microwave stand! Don’t forget that special to you travel mug so you can sip your tea from any room of the house!

Listen to Music

When is the last time YOU got to listen to your choice of music? No more sing along songs. No educational ditties. Give some relaxing classical music a try. If you don’t own a lot of music you can easily check out Amazon Prime’s  Playlists for some really quick and awesome choices. I would suggest: Nature Sounds for Relaxation or Relaxing Classical Music for a start. You do not have to buy these playlists if you have Prime! You can listen to them on your phone or mp3 player.

These songs can be all yours or you can try to play them when your children are around but you might get some crazy results. Big Red, my 5 1/2 year old son, just giggles uncontrollably when I start any kind of song on my phone. This happened a few nights in a row at bedtime so I gave up sharing my music with him!

Diffuse a Pleasing Scent

Now hear me out on this one. You do not have to jump on the essential oil bandwagon with reckless abandon to enjoy a calming scent. You do no have to join an MLM or take a 2 week course. You should check to see that you purchase a therapeutic grade oil and do your research on scents that might calm you. I personally like lavender, a blend actually called Relaxation and another called Calming. I have a very simple diffuser which we have used a few times. My kids commented on the smells right away. A few liked them and a few not so much. If you have sensitivities or allergies to scents or smells I would consult a doctor or herbalist before giving a diffuser a try.

Curl Up with a Good Book

Again another way to relax is to venture into a world unknown. From current day Cozy Mysteries to the Classics spending some time reading can give you just enough of a break to recharge your body and soul. I for one miss the days of being able to read for hours and getting lost in some Inspirational Romance novel. I know that as my children get bigger I will have many days to read for hours at a time once again.

Take a Hot Shower

A hot shower without Spiderman bubble bath or a dozen army men at my feet sounds delightful! How about not having to share the tub with your trouble making two year old? Do you need a new shower head? Look no further then the Aroma Sense Luxury Shower Head with Vitamin C! We just tried this out last week and LOVE IT! Our five year old said, ” This shower is AWESOME! I love that thing!” I love the large shower head and how gentle it is.

I think our toddler will love it once he tries it as well. (Right now he is scared of the shower. Our old shower head was very noisy and he got scared of it about 6 months ago.)

Missing out on three entries as the link doesn’t work for commenting on Unschooling Momma. Tried to Google it and that didn’t work either.

Having this would certainly be a great way to relax and recharge. I love that it is scented and gives vitamin c. I also like that it has the large rain type showerhead.

I totally forgot about candles. When we bought our house we didn’t have any mantles and we got a black lab within the first month so we never use candles for fear his tail would knock them over. Now we have 4 kids and kinda the same thing. Don’t want to see a toddler playing with fire! We do own some battery operated ones.

Are you serious, lol? I had no idea that it was National Bubble Bath Day!

This is a fantastic list of relaxing ideas! I often forget to do simple things that I enjoy for myself. It happens to mothers because we spend so much putting other people first. Although right and good, it becomes a habit and our personal conditions *might* start to deteriorate a little. A hot shower is my go-to getaway. Not only does it massage those tight muscles in my shoulders, it also helps drown out the sounds of bickering on the other side of the door…lol!

I totally agree – personally I curl up with a book whenever I can… and tea… totally calming.

Listening to music and reading blogs really is the way I relax. I really enjoy reading books too. I’m going to start on 21 Irrefutable Laws of Leadership this month. I read The Fellowship earlier this month. Reading to me is food for the soul. I also really enjoy reading and listening to the Bible.

They make a diffuser for the car too! A good car ride is sometimes my sanity on hard days.

Oh, yes! I have one and had it for so long I totally forgot about it. Mine isn’t a mist version but the cotton pad. Thanks for the reminder.

I find soothing music and a warm blanket are great ways for me to relax. Maybe a cuppa something warm. but ultimately it is the quiet that is best for me.
