What better way to practice letter recognition then with a plastic egg letter recognition hunt! Princess hid the eggs around the living room since it was under 30 degrees outside and muddy in the backyard. Big Red and Lil’ Red both had fun hunting for the eggs.
After all of the eggs were collected it was time to crack them open to see which letter was inside. I used tiny letter erasers that I have had for years along with a laminated alphabet mat. I created the alphabet mat with small 1″ vinyl letters on black construction paper.
The boys had fun cracking open the eggs to find a letter which they would then match onto the alphabet mat. The letters were placed randomly when I created it which makes it even more fun to find the letters.
This activity was something that both boys could work on together and still learn from. Big Red could open the eggs pretty easily. Lil’ Red liked to help match the letters even though he doesn’t know the names of them all, yet!
This month’s Kindergarten Unit Study features Easter and Resurrection activities. I hope you take the time to check them all out! Remember to tweet, share, and pin them so other’s can see them as well!
