Kid Friendly Kitchen Table Activities

January 18, 2016 By Thaleia 1 Comment

Since we homeschool it is usually assumed that we must sit around the table all day and do schoolwork which is not true for our family. We do use the kitchen table as our main hub for all sorts of kid friendly kitchen table activities.

Cooking and Meal Preparation:

Everyone has to eat so you might as well learn how to cook at a young age. Even our toddler has found fun things to do to help in the kitchen. You can read all about how a toddler can be a sous chef and be very helpful in the kitchen!

Craft Projects:

It comes and goes in spurts but we are pretty big craft fanatics at our house. Someone is always making, creating, or building something at our house. We use lots of craft supplies like stickers, tape, glue, etc. We can NEVER keep duct tape in the house no matter how often we buy it. Many of our creative activities happen around the kitchen table.

Art Lessons:

Whether it’s a formal art lesson from a Youtube video, a blog project or just a kid inspired art activity we love doing those around the kitchen table. I think the size of our table helps lend itself to more creative projects.

Science:

During cold or rainy weather the kitchen table is a great place to work on Science projects and experiments like EEME or dissecting a cattail. When the weather is nice we usually head to the picnic table in our backyard or the porch out front. (we observed a huge praying mantis on our porch a few year’s back)

This post really highlights how your kitchen table really is the heart of your home. It is the centre of so many different activities to do indoors. We love to craft altogether around our kitchen table. Thanks so much for taking part in our A-Z of Indoor Activities.
