Homemade Minion Math Counters

July 18, 2015 By Thaleia

It’s Minion madness at my house! My kids have loved these crazy yellow guys since the first Despicable Me movie came out. Then we were invited to a Minion Birthday party and we didn’t have anything Minion so Eldest drew some shirts and Princess created some Minion earrings!

Homemade Minion Math Counters
Now we are at it again with some super cute homemade Minion Math Counters! These cute little guys are easy enough that Lil’ Red helped and he’s only 23 months. We had the supplies on hand but all of them should be easy to find at your local craft store or you can order through Amazon via our affiliate links which we will provide below.

Supplies:

Woodsies oval wood shapes
Glue Bottle
Google Eyes
Sharpies Markers– Yellow, Blue, Red and Black

Gather your supplies and create a protected coloring surface especially if you are using permanent markers. We used our grey Tot Tray that I bought on clearance a few years ago after Halloween at Kroger. (I should have bought more then one!)

Coloring Wooden Minion
If you own a plush Minion or two grab then for inspiration! Then set out to color the yellow first then proceed to blue, black, and red for the mouths. Be sure that the markers have a tin bit of time to set and then proceed to glue on the eyes.

Gluing on Minion eyes

Wait till the eyes are dry overnight if possible or a few hours if you cannot resist playing with them. We only had 10 woodsies of this size so we are limited in what we can do but we plan to share some of the variety of ways to play with them.
1. Count the Minions
2. Sort the Minions by Dave (2 eyes) vs. Stuart (1 eyed)
3. Greater Than and Less Than

We hope you have fun making your own homemade Minion Math Counters.
