Free Comic Book Day 2015 and We Love Weekends

May 1, 2015 By Thaleia

Power up your repulsor gauntlets and dust off your batarangs because this Saturday is “Free Comic Book Day”! You read that right. Every year on the first Saturday in May, comic publishers partner with comic retailers to give away free comic books to the public.

It’s a great time to check out your local comic shop, because in addition to free comics there’s usually other fun activities such as costume contests and games. You can also usually get some great deals as well. Getting into (or back into) comics can be daunting. With some characters having been around for decades, you might be overwhelmed by where to start. Not to fear! Comic publishers often plan story arcs so that they end just before or begin just after Free Comic Book Day and then give away free issues specifically written to bring you up to speed on what’s happening or introduce new stories and/or characters.

Stop by your local Comic Shop for #freecomicbookday Saturday May 2! #fcbd

It’s the perfect time to see what your local comic shop has in store, a time to read new comics, get kids involved in reading and have fun as a community!
