Dear Son You Are Amazing

September 23, 2016 By Thaleia 6 Comments

If you have a teenager or two in your house, then you know the importance of recognizing how amazing they are for their uniqueness and individual talents and abilities. How often do you tell your teen what makes them so amazing? I took the Go Big challenge from Yoplait to write a letter to my teen to share why I feel he is amazing! How about you? Will you take a few moments to write a letter telling your teen how amazing they are?

Dear Oldest Son,

You are amazing and I know that you are not told this enough by your parents or siblings. You little brothers adore you and your little sister looks up to you as well even though you are less then 2 years apart.

Dear Son You Are Amazing

I know that the last two years have been challenging as if becoming a teenager isn’t already hard enough. Your diagnosis with Type 1 Diabetes threw us all for a loop! We have all been through the shock and grief and sleepless nights but you have proved to accept what God has given you  and you persevere.

You have not given up on your video recording or editing even though you were told by the Endo to limit such activities. We know your true strengths and let you hone your editing abilities as well as encourage you to get out and play outside. Your love of all things multimedia at a young age is incredible. Not just your love of video games and YouTube but the actual skill that you seem to have. Never give up on your talents while learning new things to grow.

Remember some days will be so much tougher and more challenging and almost too hard to bare but you can do it. Through all the high blood sugar levels and the lows. Through the pains of Ketones and the quarterly Endo visits you can rest assured that both mom and dad will be at your side. We want to prepare you for adulthood as best as we can and all the challenges that are along the way.

Building a solid and healthy foundation now of mind, body, and soul will give you the best chance to succeed in life. No matter what we wish and pray for the best life has to offer you.

Love,
Mom

We really need to do this more so now than ever. Teenagers have it rough way rougher than we did! Now I’m off to tell my son he is amazing.

Yes, kids need to hear it even if they act like they are “too cool” or too big to be appreciated!
