Crafts for Back to School

August 2, 2017 By Thaleia 3 Comments

It’s August and that means it’s Back to School time! Even though we homeschool back to school is still a thing at our house. We still buy school supplies and double check that each child has a lunch box and a backpack. If your child likes a particular character then making your own back to school project might just be a fun thing to do for back to school prep!

Mote Park (Piqua, Ohio)

July 31, 2017 By Thaleia Leave a Comment

We do not go to Mote Park very often and I am not really sure why. It offers a lot of things to play on for all of my children. The main play structure at Mote Park consists of a set of stairs, 3 slides and two rock wall climbing areas.

The swings and Merry-Go-Round at Mote Park are located right next to each other in the mulched playground area. Children can easily run back and forth from one play structure to another with ease.

Robert M. Davis Park (Piqua, Ohio)

July 17, 2017 By Thaleia Leave a Comment

The play structure at Robert M. Davis Park is definitely geared towards toddlers and preschoolers. The entire play structure is lower to the ground then most parks and the steps are shorter for easier access for little ones.Play Structure at Robert M. Davis Park

This photo of the back of the play structure shows three ways to climb up onto the structure. There’s a curved set of wire bars, a chain ladder and a curved set of metal steps. All great ways for younger children to practice their gross motor skills.

Robert M. Davis Park in Piqua, Ohio is GREAT for smaller children! Read about it here—>

Tawawa Park (Sidney, Ohio)

July 10, 2017 By Thaleia Leave a Comment

Tawawa Park is so large with so many areas to play and explore that I recommend looking at the Tawawa map before visiting! We have found 6 different playgrounds with very different play equipment for a wide range of ages. Driving across the very narrow paved road next to Tawawa Lake is the most harrowing thing. No guardrails. No middle lines or edge lines. I do it so that we can get to the 75% of the park and the 5 playgrounds on that side of the park.

The metal slide at Young Cove’s is one off the pieces of equipment located in that area. There is also a large picnic shelter which would be a nice place for a family picnic or birthday party.

Back to School Tax-Free Weekend

July 7, 2017 By Thaleia

I know it’s just the beginning of July and you are groaning that I am bringing up Back to School, right? I know I hate the idea of the care free days of Summer coming to an end BUT I love school supplies AND saving money! Since 2016 Ohio joined the tax-free weekend band wagon so it’s time to get my list ready. I know some schools already have their Back to School supply lists already available for the “early shoppers”, lol.  I am guilty of snagging great deals as soon as they start rolling out in our local stores.
