Things We Learned During the Route 127 Yard Sale

September 8, 2016 By Thaleia 1 Comment

There are many things to learn each and everyday if you stop and take the time. Spending time with family doesn’t seem to be a problem for us because we do work from home, BUT is it quality time? Many nights I find everyone glued to a different device or screen each person watching or playing their own game. During the time we went out during the Route 127 Yard Sale we did not allow devices besides our phones to take pictures and Eldest’s blood glucose meter.

Things We Learned During the Route 127 Yard Sale

We set out with very low expectations so as to NOT get anyone’s hopes up. I told each child that some of the treasures they see will be very pricey or things that we do not need. Each child was given a budget of $5 which we know isn’t much but it’s what we can afford at this time. I had asked the kids to think of things that they need and things that they want. I didn’t get many answers ahead of time.

For the Love of Swimming #LetsPowerTheirDreams #ad

August 9, 2016 By Thaleia 3 Comments

This is a sponsored post for SheSpeaks and P&G proud sponsors of Team USA and Dana Vollmer.

It’s no secret that my children love water and love swimming! Each time our children hear that we might be staying at a hotel or going on a blog trip they ask, “Is there going to be a pool?” Their love of swimming goes on all year long no matter what the weather. They know that sometimes we can go to an indoor water park as part of our homeschool PE while other times they enjoy the warm days of Summer while in a pool outdoors!

For the Love of Swimming

Are you excited for The Olympic Games that are going on this month? Have you ever thought about training and competing? Have you thought that maybe one of your children may be cut out to perform during a future Olympic Games? All of my children love water and swimming so I could imagine that maybe, just maybe, one of them could be a future Olympian. We do not own a pool or even a YMCA membership at this point but that does not stop their love for water and swimming.

Safety Tips for Pokemon Go

August 5, 2016 By Thaleia 1 Comment

By now I am sure that you have heard about Pokemon Go unless you have been off all WiFi living on a deserted island as a hermit, lol. I was not very excited about this new app and “addiction” when I first heard about it. Like all new things moderation and safety are key! I want to take some time to talk to you about some safety tips for Pokemon Go that a friend of mine, Dannah, wrote about to let other parents and players be aware of. You see Dannah allows her son who is 7 years old the opportunity to play with close parental supervision. She is also a computer nerd and plays herself, lol.

Safety Tips for Pokemon GO!

I personally have not downloaded Pokemon Go to my phone because I do not have the space with all the apps that I use on a daily basis for work. I am familiar with the creators of the game, Niantic Inc.,since they also created the Field Trip app which I do have on my phone and love because of the rich History that it provides.

Star Crepe Paper Art and Free Star Printable

July 2, 2016 By Thaleia 3 Comments

It’s 4th of July here in the USA but you can learn about the star shape all year long. Lil’ Red really enjoyed creating his star crepe paper art. I quickly gathered supplies for this project which we happened to already have around the house.

Star Crepe Paper Art

I created a printable with 9 stars on it using it as a guide for the star shapes. Then I helped to tear up the blue crepe paper streamer into smaller pieces.
