Children’s Garden Play Space Dayton Children’s Hospital {Dayton, Ohio}

April 5, 2019 By Thaleia Leave a Comment

Just across the street from Dayton Children’s Hospital and next to the Ronald McDonald House a wonderful surprise awaits! The Children’s Garden Play Space is a very welcoming addition to the hospital complex.

Children's Garden Play Space

The park is filled with fun and exciting activities for all ages that center around a garden theme. Right away you are greeted by a jumbo caterpillar and butterfly. Eldest (14 years old at the time) is standing underneath the gateway to give you an idea of the scale of that caterpillar!

Trammel Fossil Park (Sharonville, Ohio)

February 15, 2019 By Thaleia 3 Comments

We were heading to Cincinnati for a media dinner at Freddy’s Steakburgers and Frozen Custard and decided to stop and play along the way. I looked up some parks in the area and found out about the Trammel Fossil Park located in Sharonville.

Trammel Fossil Park

I had never heard of the Trammel Fossil Park and I have lived in Ohio all my life. We have been fossil hunting before at Caesar’s Creek before Lil’ Red was born so I thought it would be fun for him to hunt some fossils. We brought some empty ice cream buckets to help with our fossil collection.

Again we found out about this awesome play area from another homeschool family. This post is part of our Best Nature Centers, Nature Play Areas and Hiking Trails in the Miami Valley blog series. We hope to add many local parks so that more families will be able to go out and enjoy them!

Since we live over 25 minutes away we do not visit as often as we would like but we always enjoy what time we do spend in the woods at Englewood Metropark Nature Play Area.

Mote Park (Piqua, Ohio)

July 31, 2017 By Thaleia Leave a Comment

We do not go to Mote Park very often and I am not really sure why. It offers a lot of things to play on for all of my children. The main play structure at Mote Park consists of a set of stairs, 3 slides and two rock wall climbing areas.

The swings and Merry-Go-Round at Mote Park are located right next to each other in the mulched playground area. Children can easily run back and forth from one play structure to another with ease.
