What better way to learn about animals from different countries then to visit the zoo! We decided to get a Columbus Zoo and Aquarium membership for our family since we have not had one in a handful of years. We also realized earlier this yea that Lil’ Red had not been to the zoo before and he will be three in August-gasp!
We make an entire day of going to the zoo because we live 90 minutes away but we also take the scenic route to avoid traffic on the highway and all that nasty construction that always seems to be going on. We pack a meal, drinks, and extra snacks like jerky sticks, dried fruit, and nuts.
The last time we Googled how to get there we were given an entirely new route which we have now taken twice and love! We go through a few small towns on the way but still pass gas stations and enough bathrooms to suffice.
We focused on two continent’s this time when we went to the Columbus Zoo- Africa and Asia although we did have to walk through North America to get to those areas.
Lil’ Red has been in love with giraffe’s even before he saw one so we knew we had to go see some giraffe’s in real life!
I loved all the signs that were filled with information about the animals. I tried to take all of them but some didn’t turn out as well as I had hoped. We saw a Vervet Monkey which is supposed to be the most curious in the world..Curious George, anyone?
Since it was Lil’ Red’s second time at the Columbus Zoo we made sure to take some pictures on the designated photo opp statue areas. We only had Princess and Lil’ Red with us because the other boys stayed the night at grandma’s. It was such a relief to only have to watch over two kids because the crowds were very heavy due to very mild weather!
